Mandapa je konstrukce, ve kterém sedí mniši nebo mnišky, když recitují pirith. Původně byla mandapa stavěná venku jako ochrana recitujících proti nepřízni počasí. Později se začaly mandapy stavět i v domech, kde se noční pirith odehrával. V současné době se mandapa v sinhálské kultuře stala nedílnou součást pirithu.

Mandapa is a construction in which the monks or nuns sit while chanting the pirith. Originally was the mandapa built in the open air as a protective house for the pirith-reciters. Later on, people started to build mandapa also in houses, where the night pirith was held. In contemporary Sinhalese culture the mandapa became an integral part of the pirith ceremony.
